Sarasota County is a large Florida county sitting on the Suncoast. Sarasota County works adjacent to the City of Sarasota and Sarasota County Schools who each have their own visual identity. For this project, I created a more cohesive design system for these municipalities that elicits the vibe of Sarasota’s quirky art communities while elevating Sarasota’s ability to appeal to the greater design community through a unifying approach. For this system, I designed three primary logos, Sarasota County, Sarasota City, and Sarasota Schools. These logos are inspired by Mid-Century Modern and Googie signage. Sarasota County is green with playful squares representing the county’s vast land as plots. Sarasota City is blue to represent the bay and the city’s nightlife. It features the Ringling Bridge over the bay, a staple sight of Sarasota City. Sarasota Schools is red to represent the ambition and achievement of Sarasota students. It features a school bus. The logo systems come in full color, two color, and one color.
